CUTriC Fresher's Aquathlon 2012
On Sunday 14th October, 22 sleepy freshers, novice triathletes, and an ex-CUTriC President descended on Abbey Pools to take on the CUTriC Fresher's Aquathlon. The course consisted of a 200m pool swim followed by a swift exit into the morning air and a 3km run around Coldham's Common. The marshalls assumed their positions with watches synchronised and Haribo sweets at the ready. Tim Gordon, the keenest of all (first to sign up for fresher's aquathlon) took the plunge first...
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
email mj365 if you want to try your hand at sports journalism and write a 300word report on the Fresher's Aquathlon. It helps if you were a participant or a marshall on the day!
In the mean time, thanks to everyone for attending, we hope you had a brilliant aquathlon! Many thanks to the committee members (Andrea, Max, Alison, Doug, Paul and James) who made sure everything smoothly with some quick thinking. Special thanks to George Hoppett at Abbey pools for his assistance organising pool hire and risk assessment, Simon Cornish for additional safety advice and Will Hudson and Ross Elliott from the University of Cambridge for assisting with Public Liability Insurance for the event.
